Philadelphia in Color, 1950-1990

Hidden City is seeking input for a photographic publication. Here is the information they have provided.

What was Philadelphia like in the 1950s? What has been erased or forgotten? What happened during the upheavals of the ‘60s and ‘70s? How did the city try to reinvent itself in the ‘80s? Hidden City Philadelphia is preparing an upcoming photographic history book called PHILADELPHIA IN COLOR, 1950-1990 to cover these issues.

To bring this project to life, we need your help. We’re looking for color photos of exteriors only, shot within Philadelphia city limits between 1950 and 1990. As we’re wrapping up our photo collection phase we’re realizing that we could use more photos of industrial scenes of workers, factories, etc.

Folks can either email us at phillyincolor@hiddencityphila.org to coordinate a time for us to come scan slides/negatives, or upload digitized images to phillyincolor.org/submit
