18th Century Pennypack Creek Mills: Holmesburg to Horsham

Speaker:  Fred Moore

Oct 4, 2023 07:00 PM Eastern Time (US and Canada)

Pennypack Creek is the central geographic feature of Northeast Philadelphia.  It was also an important economic feature in the 18th and 19th centuries with numerous mills operating along its 20-mile run to the Delaware River.  Northeast Philadelphia historian Fred Moore’s particular interest is Pennypack Creek.  He will discuss the application of historic maps, tax lists, deeds, and road petitions to identify the location, ownership, and estimated build dates of 18th century mills along the creek from Holmesburg to Horsham.
