Welcome to the Oliver Evans Chapter of The Society for Industrial Archeology (SIA)—the local chapter for Philadelphia and the Delaware Valley.

The SIA’s emphasis on archeology reflects a concern for the tangible evidence of early industry.  Our mission is the study, interpretation, and preservation of the surviving factories, machinery, bridges, canals, industrial communities and artifacts that are historically significant.

membersWith a history dating back over 30 years, our chapter is named for famed inventor Oliver Evans.

Members includes architects, archeologists, engineers, industrialists, museum specialists, planners, historians, preservationists, teachers, students, retirees, and many non-professionals – in short, anyone with an interest in the past and ongoing impact of industrialization.
